About the course
The aim of the workshop is to provide participants with an overview of the learning styles of pupils on the autism spectrum, the TEACCH Philosophy & Structured Teaching.
Structured Teaching is based on the understanding of the learning styles of autistic people. The beginning goals of Structured Teaching is for people to learn new skills, be engaged in their learning and reduce any distress behaviours. The long aims of this approach is to enable people to become independent, have increased well-being and be more flexible.
OBJECTIVES:

An increased understanding of the complexities of autism
An overview of the TEACCH Philosophy
Classroom strategies to support learning for people on the autism spectrum using the Structured Teaching approach
The format of this workshop will include presentations, videos, interactive discussions and small group activities.
